Experiment

Trying something new to me.  I started out just wanting to be able to contact my children who are scattered across the globe and to make new friends, if I could, in cyberspace.  Ran across this and will see what happens.

Good news from the U. of Montevallo, Rachel still has her scholarship and place in the Honors program.  We got that verified on Friday.  The chief of the admissions office (or some title like that) has promised to work through the process with Rachel and us for registering for classes early, housing, etc.  So fall looks set, just need to work the process.
In other good news, Jesse won 4th place (in 6th grade division)  in the Academy for Science and Fine Arts Math Tournament down in Birmingham.
I feel better today, so perhaps I am adjusting to the side effects of the latest meds we are trying out.  Now to see if the meds work.
Well, I need to catch up on my Treasurer's duties and have a report ready for tonight's Spiritual Assembly meeting.

Gary

Cleaning Day

Yep, today is a day for cleaning, so naturally I have an urge to blog.  I'd do some yard work, but it is too muddy after the storms last night.  Other things to avoid cleaning that I've done so far today:
downloading and printing out Anna's Presentation for Carolyn (3 files) and collating the pages
doing the dishes
doing a load of laundry
checking the weather
ponder how things work in the Mac environment
what to put on Windows in Boot Camp
contemplating Twitter, You Tube, etc.
reading other blogs (Rachel's {nothing new}, Roya's, Lucia's)
not opening yesterday's mail
Running out of ideas for procrastination as well as blogging.

I was thinking yesterday about how to spread love and good cheer and not complaining through the internet.  Not sure how to do it and sound sincere and not strange or looney.   I was also wondering how to make friends on the internet.  How to be of service and help people through the internet as well.   Hmmmm.

Return of the Wandering Daughter

Alison arrived back from Uganda last Friday where she spent three weeks visiting her sister Rachel, who is doing a year of service there.  Rachel is assistant to the Head of the External Affairs Office of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Uganda.

Alison's luggage got lost for awhile, but it arrived around 10 am today.  That's a relief, because all our Ayyam-i-Ha presents from Rachel were in one of the bags.  Wouldn't want to miss out on that.  Alison went back to Maryville to finish her last semester of college.  She claims she has it together for this semester and it will be the best one yet.

High School soccer season starts tomorrow with physical conditioning, team selection at the end of the month, some practices and the into the season.  GHS had 10 seniors leave, all starters, so I don't expect a great season; GHS has been declining since it won 4 straight state championships, although when Alison was playing they should have had 4 more.  Just 2starting  position changes would have done it.  If only American bred coaches could see.

TTFN, got an LSA meeting to prep for.

Jesse had a soccer game last night. They had a short practice and the usual warm up drills, only Jesse got hurt when she and a team mate hit the ball at the same time. I think she strecthec a ligament or a muscle on the outside of her knee. One of the few times I have ever seen her lay on the ground after a collision. After a few minutes she said she was OK and went on to play the whole game as goalie. And she was spectacular! They were not only playing a much better team, but her team, especially the defense was flat. Her team managed to eek out a 1-0 lead at the half. Then her defense went brain dead several times 4-5 would be in the box and make no move at all to stop the opposing forwards, but Jesse still held them off until she was blocked from the ball by her own team and then faced an excellent forward from less than PK distance 1v1 who put it on the back far post, with Jesse making a diving try, full layout. And there was one brilliannt pass and chip over her head she just missed getting to. They lost 3-1. Jesse was player of the game for her team and even the other team and the ref had nothing but praise for her. After the game she finally admitted that her knee hurt a lot. So we iced it and will see how it does.
